Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup cold water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Oil for frying

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (slurry)

For Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

1. Prepare Chicken Batter

  • In a bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, salt, egg, and cold water until smooth.
  • Toss chicken pieces in the batter until well-coated.

2. Fry Chicken

  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry battered chicken in batches for 4–5 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
  • Drain on paper towels.

3. Make Honey Garlic Sauce

  • In a pan, combine honey, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and sesame oil.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until sauce thickens (1–2 minutes).

4. Combine

  • Toss the fried chicken pieces in the hot honey garlic sauce until evenly coated.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
